Here are some of our most frequently asked questions.

  • Every website design project is unique and design fees are based on the size and complexity of the project, including different design elements (how it looks) and functionality (how it works). To date, we have worked with client budgets ranging from $1,950 - $12,500.

    We do offer design packages although if these do not cover exactly what you need, we recommend getting in touch to go through your requirements so you get exactly what you need.

  • You will need to pay for your domain name and website hosting.

    These start from $20/yr and $200/yr respectively and paid directly to the domain name host provider and Squarespace.

    Unlike other platforms, you don't need to pay a monthly maintenance fee for security patches as these aspects are covered with your annual hosting fee with Squarespace.

    Our clients receive 20% off their first year hosting with Squarespace.

  • On average, there is a 1-2 week turnaround, but the pace of any project is set by each client.

    How much input you can provide during the initial stages, your availability with feedback, how soon the content is ready – all this affects the speed of completion.

    The functionality requirements may also play a role – more complex sites will take more time to develop.

    Turnaround times are given at the proposal stage so you have a clear idea of how long your project will take.

  • Absolutely! Having a mobile-friendly website is more important than ever and we work hard to ensure your website looks great on a variety of devices.

  • Good question. Once you have confirmed you would like to us to start on your website, we require 50% of the quoted amount in advance to confirm your design slot, and then the remaining 50% on project completion.

    We will keep you updated at each stage, and you get to see a draft version as soon as possible (usually after 3-4 days) to make sure we are on the right track.

  • You are the expert on your business, so it’s best if it comes from you.

    As a starting point we recommend you imagine you are talking to a potential client about what you do and why - you’ll be surprised how much information you provide!

  • Absolutely! This is one of the founding principles of Hot Lizard Designs!

    If you already have an account with Squarespace, we simply access your site as a Contributor in order to make changes and updates as needed.

    If we are setting up a new account for you, ownership is transferred over to you once the final balance has been paid.

    An additional bonus - if we set up your site you get 20% off your first year of hosting fees with Squarespace.

  • Yes! It is your website and we firmly believe that you should have full control and access.

    We offer all of our clients an optional online training session to go through the main areas of the site and answer any questions. Squarespace also provides a comprehensive online database of tutorials.

    Once design projects are complete full ownership of a client’s site is transferred over to the client.

  • We’re here to help you as much or as little as you need once your site has launched.

    Many of our clients come back to HLD for edits and updates as it is quicker and easier for us to carry out the work, leaving you free to concentrate on what you do best - run your business.
